AIChE Purpose and Goals

The objective of this organization is to promote interest in the study of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M, and to expose students to industry professionals and career opportunities. The goal is to develop students professionally, academically, and socially through local, regional, and national AIChE sponsored events. AIChE operates as a student chapter of the international American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

General Meetings

General meetings are company sponsored meetings that give students an opportunity to learn about what goes on in industry. Meetings include dinner and a presentation from the company. We bring in representatives to talk about topics ranging from engineering problems to possible future career fields.

Meetings are held every other Wednesday in JEB 106 at 7:30 PM and can last between 1-2 hours.

Lunch and Learns

Lunch and Learns are smaller meetings where company representatives are brought in to give a 30-45 minute presentation. Lunch and Learns typically have about 20 people so they are a fantastic way to network. Students will have the opportunity to attend one of two times available on the day of a Lunch and Learn.

Mentorship Program

Our mentorship program pairs freshman and sophomores with juniors and seniors. It is a great way for new students to gain advice and insight from experienced students! From class scheduling to Excel tutorials, our mentorship program is a great way to help new students succeed in chemical engineering.

Sophomore Retreat

The AIChE Sophomore Retreat is a fun-filled weekend event where students can meet future classmates and industry professionals. Our goal is to empower incoming sophomores academically, socially, and professionally through a fun, motivational, and memorable overnight retreat.

Student National Conference

The AIChE Student National Conference is a great opportunity to learn more about AIChE and connect with over 200 AIChE Student chapters from across the globe! It’s an incredible opportunity to network with young professionals, AIChE leaders and industry professionals from numerous engineering specialties.

Intramurals

Intramurals are a great way to meet your fellow chemical engineers. We have been involved in sand volleyball and indoor volleyball in the past years.

ChemE Car

Chem-E-Car is an international student design competition hosted by AIChE. Teams design and build a shoe-box-sized model car, powered, and controlled by chemical reactions to carry a specified load to a target distance. The student-led Texas A&M Chem-E-Car team and corresponding CHEN 469 course aim to compete in the Spring AIChE Regional Conference and the AIChE Annual Conference.

Socials

Our chapter hosts socials for our members such as game nights, a Halloween social, a Holiday social, and Casino Night. These are fun ways for our members to take a break from the stress of classes and get to know each other.

Plant Tours

Plant tours give students the opportunity to see their major in action. A chemical plant tour is an invaluable experience for any chemical engineering student. We typically have one plant tour per semester. Think of them as a field trip for chemical engineers.
